Colt
Army 1860
Nearly all parts
of this pistol, along with the powder flask, were made from the
same beautiful piece of dark walnut.
The exceptions
were the trigger and trigger guard, where a blonde piece of timber
was used to simulate brass. (See Colt
Navy 1851 for more information
about the selection of timber.)
The labels on
the cap boxes are high quality colour copies of authentic labels.
Mr Talbot borrowed the originals from his friend Bruce Tunstill
who is a collector of historic ammunition.
When .44 rifle
cartridges became widely available many Colts were modified to
use them.
See Colt Army Conversion for the fascinating details
and a replica.
