1848 Colt Dragoon
and 1849 Colt Pocket Pistol make a beautiful cased set with a full
compliment of accessories: cap boxes for each, with six caps for the
Dragoon, and five for the Pocket; six .44 calibre bullets for the
Dragoon, two conical and four balls; five .31 calibre bullets for
the Pocket, two conical and three balls; a powder flask for each with
nozzles that can be adjusted for two sizes of powder charges; nipple
wrenches and bullet moulds for each gun; and a cleaning rod.
The serial numbers
are 1842L for the Dragoon and 1849L for the Pocket Pistol. All are
presented in a Brazilian Mahogany case.
Mr. Talbot jokingly
referred to the Pocket Pistol as a "pesky little thing".
He said it was a challenge because all parts were considerably smaller,
there were only five chambers, and the main spring was required to
bend and move in a very limited space.
